Beth Misner - Speaker / Author and Co-founder of BNI Foundation

Q1. How did your career journey start? Or Who/What inspired you to start this business/ entrepreneurship?

I married into a family business. I did not grow up with the idea that I wanted to work for myself, or own a business. All of my grandparents were in business for themselves, so I did have that example in front of my as a child. Once I actually became an entrepreneur, I knew it was the best fit for me. My husband, BNI founder and CVO, Ivan Misner, has always inspired me to be the very best entrepreneur I could possibly be.  

Q2. Kindly share some information about your Business, products and services here.

Our company is a franchised business called BNI (Business Network Int'l.). We provide weekly meetings for business owners to attend with the sole purpose of providing each other with qualified referrals for new business for themselves. It is a membership organization, and I'm proud to say that many of our members share with us that they are in business today because of the services we provide to them! Q3. What kind of challenges did you face while starting/doing business?

I had to shift my mentality from being an employee to being an owner. There are a lot of things the owner does without even thinking twice about it that the employees never consider. For example, at the end of the work day, I was ready to stop, but as the owner, there are additional things to do that means you cannot really stop! There were times where we would work on the accounting (in the very beginning) until the early hours of the next morning! I really struggled at first with feeling resentment over having to do all these things. 

Q4. Do share with our readers about your discovery period when you were facing difficulties in your business?

There was a time very early in our company when we went through a very tough time with the income. We had to think of some creative ways to increase the income. Since we are a franchise company, it can sometimes be difficult to stay in close touch with all the franchise owners in a way that keeps them excited about growing the business in their own territories. I had the idea to begin holding conferences with the franchise owners every six months, to bring them in to the headquarters region to meet us, conduct trainings, and do things to keep them excited about what they are doing. It was a great success and now there are BNI conferences all over the world in every country we operate, and also one BIG conference somewhere in the world for everyone each year. 

Q5. Share with our readers about your experiment period after the discovery period?

We started to watch the production numbers of the franchisees to compare the results of the franchisees who came to our conferences with those who did not. We found quickly that the franchisees who did not come to our conferences did not have as strong of a business as those who did. As a result, we began to mandate attendance to at least one of the conferences offered throughout the year. Coming together with everyone to learn and grow has an amazing impact on the production of the franchises afterwards. And they seem to really enjoy getting together with everyone. Many of them have become very good friends, traveling on vacations together with their families, and even some of them have married each other! 

Q6. What are your future plans? Or now what is your vision for next five years?

I am now helping to manage the BNI non-profit which focuses on children and education, the BNI Foundation. I hope that in the next five years we will have 100% participation in the BNI Foundation's programs by our franchisees and that 75% of all our BNI members will be contributing to support the work we are doing with schools all around the world. 

Q7. How would you advice/suggest new entrepreneurs who want to start & sustain in business?

Start your business with all the roles in mind that you will need to have others doing as you grow. As you are able, begin to bring these people into your staff. Trying to do everything all by yourself to save money will cost money in the long run. You will never be able to grow as much as possible if you stay as a Solo-preneur, as you will when you grow a team to support your business. Also, be sure you have some kind of philanthropic cause you attach to your business. It will create good for the community, and it will create brand loyalty with your clients for your business.

Q1. How did your career journey start? Or Who/What inspired you to start this business/ entrepreneurship? 

I first read THINK & GROW RICH about 20 years back during my MBA studied. I could not stop reading the book. After that book, I studied every possible work of Napoleon Hill including all of his books, articles, audio recordings, etc. I started to apply the principles of THINK & GROW RICH in my life and achieved remarkable results. At this moment, I decided to Buy the License from the Napoleon Hill Foundation to Coach & Train these principles of Success. 

Q2. Kindly share some information about your Business, products and services here. THINK & 

GROW RICH Academy is the Only Company in India affiliated with the Napoleon Hill Foundation, Virginia, USA, having the exclusive License to Coach & Train PAN INDIA, on the Principles of Success. 

I am India’s First & Only certified Business Coach and Life coach completing all the three levels of Training from the Napoleon Hill Foundation. Broadly, we offer our services in two formats: i) Workshops & Seminars ii) Personalized Coaching for CEO’s, Teams, Corporates, SME’s & Executives. Briefly, the Principles of Think & Grow Rich are applicable for every individual to assist that person in achieving its goals, aims or objectives. 

Q3. What kind of challenges did you face while starting/doing business? 

The biggest challenge was to spread the awareness of THINK & GROW RICH with the New Age Generation and making them realize that the principles are still equally powerful and result orientated in the 21st Century 

Q4. Do share with our readers about your discovery period when you were facing difficulties in your business? 

In the initial stages, we had the burden of the huge payment of license fees to our parent company in USA. And simultaneously spending on marketing and campaigning about THINK & GROW RICH in India with practically no revenue model. That period was the very challenging. 

Q5. Share with our readers about your experiment period after the discovery period? 

As we were testing waters in India, we tweaked the model of coaching and training in India to make it more relevant for our fellow Indians. We realised that the we have the best content in the world compared to the stuff which was being coached in the market by the competition. 

Q6. What are your future plans? Or now what is your vision for next five years? 

We know that we have the best product in the world. Our immediate plan is to engage the so called Innovators and Early Adopters to powerful impact and transform their lives following THINK & GROW RICH principles. Our plan for next five years is to Coach & Train atleast 10 Crore Indians with the world’s best philosophy of personal achievement. 

Q7. How would you advice/suggest new entrepreneurs who want to start & sustain in business? 

Only one advice: Follow the Principles of THINK & GROW RICH – Rest all will be taken care of.

Amruta Deshpande Bhatia - CEO of 'Yogamruta' and 'Zip Zap Zing'

Q1. How did your career journey start? Or Who/What inspired you to start this business/ entrepreneurship?


After my graduation in B.com Banking & Insurance, I felt that I did not want to be bound to a desk job. As a child, I have been always active physically and interested in athletics, swimming and dancing. I was an avid reader of Osho's books and could connect to his concept of witnessing. I always felt an inherent need to find my inner purpose and learn something practical for my mental and spiritual growth. I have always loved movement and hence I pursued dance and yoga.

I am a self driven strong woman, who is here to make a mark and difference by spreading the message of Yoga to everyone and be a pioneer in moulding the wellness industry in India. With this in mind, I have started my Companies 'Yogamruta' and 'Zip Zap Zing'.

Q2. Kindly share some information about your Business, products and services here. 

Our motto is 'Everything is Yoga'. We are here to impart life skills and mould a person's approach to life. Wellness and Yoga being an infinite domain has endless offerings, possibilities and dimensions.

We are always experimenting, our approach is dynamic, unstructured and imperfect, exactly how life is supposed to be. And with acceptance of imperfection in mind, we are not here to propagate any particular product or service.

Q3. What kind of challenges did you face while starting/doing business?

I have never faced any challenges or obstacles. I have been accepting of my journey and believe in going with the flow. I am confident that we shall never have any challenges only lessons learnt

Q4. Do share with our readers about your discovery period when you were facing difficulties in your business?

Just be your true genuine self, then there are no difficulties. Discover yourself and feel the infinite energy you have within you. Rest all follows. Nobody and no one can stop you. 

Q5. Share with our readers about your experiment period after the discovery period?

Wellness and Health Industry is unorganised in India. You have to find your mojo and learn everything by hit and trial method. It's all about experimenting continuously.  Learn from life and opportunities,  than enrolling for courses and putting money in education. Presently our education system needs to step up to the potential we have. They cannot streamline our careers. WE CAN.


Just give, give and give. YOGA teaches us to be balanced, between everything. I feel it is essential to stay balanced between selfish and selflessness. To build a future , focus on the present moment. We have plans to go global in next few years.


Q7. How would you advice/suggest new entrepreneurs who want to start & sustain in business?

I am a start up and new entrepreneur. Trust yourself. That is all that is required. See fear in its eyes and jump into your business. You will swim. Be creative and think out of the box. All great people who made a difference in any society were super positive and creative in their own way. Distance yourself from distractions. Be positive and stay motivated.
